Knowledge Hunter — a product of Luminous Gateway, LLC

Last Updated: May 23, 2026

Summary (Plain-Language Overview)

This summary highlights the key points of our privacy practices. Please read the full Policy below for details. Luminous Gateway, LLC ("we," "us," or "our") provides Knowledge Hunter (the "Service"), a consumer mobile app for working with sources, chats, and AI-generated content.

  • The Service is intended for users 18 and older.
  • We collect account information (email, password hash via Firebase), the Content you submit (sources, prompts, messages, notes), AI Output, usage and diagnostics, subscription/billing identifiers (orchestrated via RevenueCat and Superwall, with payments processed by Stripe on iOS and Google Play Billing on Android), and integration data you authorize (e.g., Notion).
  • We use this data to operate, secure, and improve the Service, provide AI features, process subscriptions, communicate with you, comply with law, and to train and improve our and our providers’ AI features.
  • Your inputs and Content may be processed by third-party AI providers (OpenAI, Google Gemini, xAI Grok, Supadata) via secure cloud function proxies, and those providers may use your inputs to operate and improve their services and models in accordance with their own terms.
  • We retain your account and Content until you delete them. The app includes an in-app account deletion feature.
  • Anything you publish through a Share Link is public to anyone who has the URL.
  • To exercise privacy rights or ask a question, email support@knowledgehunter.ai.

1. Scope and Roles

This Privacy Policy describes how Luminous Gateway, LLC collects, uses, discloses, retains, and otherwise processes personal information in connection with the Service, including the Knowledge Hunter mobile app, the websites at knowledgehunter.ai and share.knowledgehunter.ai, and related backend services. Luminous Gateway, LLC is the controller (or equivalent) of the personal information we process to provide the Service. Where we process information on behalf of a third party (for example, content you import via Notion), the third party may also have its own role and obligations.

2. Categories of Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

2.1 Account and Authentication Data

  • Email address, password (stored only as a hash by Firebase Authentication), email-verification status, account creation and last-login timestamps, and unique user identifiers.

2.2 User-Provided Content

  • Sources you upload or link to (URLs, files, text, transcripts, embeddings), chats and messages, prompts and queries, notes, tags, organizational structures (e.g., projects, folders), and any AI Output associated with your Account.

2.3 Subscription and Billing Identifiers

  • Subscription status, plan, entitlement information, transaction identifiers, purchase receipts, trial status, billing country, and the last four digits and type of your payment card (where the processor returns this to us). On iOS, payments are processed by Stripe; on Android, payments are processed through Google Play Billing. Subscription state is orchestrated by RevenueCat and Superwall. We do not receive or store full payment card numbers, CVC codes, or bank account credentials.

2.4 Usage and Device Data

  • Information about how you use the Service, such as feature interactions, performance metrics, error reports and crash logs (via Firebase Crashlytics), device model and operating system version, app version, language and locale, IP address, time-zone, and approximate location derived from IP.

2.5 Integration Data

  • If you authorize an integration (such as Notion via OAuth), we receive and process the data needed to perform the integration (such as access tokens and the specific content or pages you choose to import or export).

2.6 Communications

  • If you contact us at support@knowledgehunter.ai or otherwise communicate with us, we receive your contact details and the contents of your communication.

3. Sources of Information

We obtain information from the following sources:

  • Directly from you, when you create an Account, submit Content, configure the Service, contact support, or use features.
  • Automatically from your device when you use the Service, including via SDKs from Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Crashlytics, Cloud Functions), RevenueCat, and Superwall.
  • From Third-Party Services you authorize, such as Notion (via OAuth), and from app stores (Apple App Store, Google Play) for purchase information.
  • From AI and data providers (OpenAI, Google Gemini, xAI Grok, Supadata), in the form of AI Output and any error or operational metadata returned to us.

4. How We Use Information

We use information for the following purposes:

  • Provide and operate the Service (authentication, storage, search, organization, sharing, AI features, integrations, subscriptions);
  • Process and fulfill subscriptions, manage entitlements, and confirm purchases via RevenueCat, Superwall, Apple, and Google;
  • Maintain reliability, security, and integrity of the Service, including detecting, investigating, and preventing fraud, abuse, and security incidents;
  • Diagnose and fix technical issues using crash and performance data;
  • Communicate with you, including service announcements, security alerts, and responses to your inquiries;
  • Improve the Service, including by analyzing usage patterns, conducting research and analytics, and developing new features;
  • Train, evaluate, and improve our AI features and the underlying models, prompts, and pipelines, and improve our service providers’ services as part of providing the Service;
  • Comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, and enforce our Terms;
  • Create de-identified or aggregated information that does not identify any individual, which we may use and share for any lawful purpose.

5. Legal Bases for Processing

Where applicable law (such as the EU/UK GDPR, the laws of California, Brazil, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, India, and similar regimes) requires us to identify a legal basis or justification for processing, we rely on one or more of the following, depending on the activity:

  • Contract — to provide the Service you have requested and to perform our agreement with you (e.g., Terms acceptance, account creation, Subscription delivery).
  • Legitimate interests — to operate, secure, and improve the Service; develop new features; protect users and our business; train and improve AI features; and prevent fraud and abuse, where these interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Consent — where required by law, including for certain cookies, push notifications, optional features, or sensitive uses; you can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation — to comply with applicable laws and lawful requests.
  • Vital interests / public interest — in rare circumstances necessary to protect a person’s life or in the public interest as recognized by law.

Where local law uses different terms (e.g., “business purposes” under California law), we rely on the closest equivalent justification permitted by that law.

6. AI Processing and Transparency

Knowledge Hunter is built around AI features. This section explains how AI processing works in the Service.

6.1 What goes in (Inputs)

When you ask a question, summarize a source, or otherwise use AI features, we send your inputs — which can include your prompt, the content of selected sources, related conversation history, and metadata — to one or more AI or data providers via our Cloud Functions.

6.2 What comes out (Outputs)

The provider returns AI Output, which we display to you and store with your Account so you can revisit it. AI Output may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, outdated, or otherwise unsuitable for a particular purpose.

6.3 Providers we currently use

  • OpenAI — large language models for chat, summarization, and reasoning.
  • Google (Gemini) — large language and multimodal models.
  • xAI (Grok) — large language models.
  • Supadata — source extraction, data, and processing services that support AI features.

Each provider has its own privacy practices, security posture, and retention policies. We may add, change, or remove providers as the Service evolves and will update this Policy when we do. Each provider may use your inputs and the resulting AI Output to operate, secure, monitor, evaluate, and improve its services and models, including for training and refining AI models, in accordance with its own terms. We do not fully control or audit a provider’s internal handling of data, and by using AI features you consent to this provider-side processing. If you do not want your inputs to be processed in this way, do not use the Service’s AI features.

6.4 Quality and safety limitations

Although we apply reasonable filtering and abuse-prevention measures, AI Output may include errors, fabrications (“hallucinations”), or content that resembles third-party material. Do not rely on AI Output as professional advice or in high-risk contexts. You are responsible for reviewing AI Output before relying on it.

7. How We Share and Disclose Information

We share information with the categories of recipients described below.

7.1 Service Providers and Processors

We use trusted vendors to deliver the Service, including:

  • Google / Firebase — Authentication, Cloud Firestore (database for user, chat, source, and message data), Cloud Functions (AI proxy), Crashlytics (mobile diagnostics), and related Google Cloud infrastructure.
  • OpenAI, Google (Gemini), xAI (Grok), Supadata — AI and data processing for the Service’s AI features.
  • RevenueCat and Superwall — subscription orchestration, paywall presentation, entitlement state, and analytics related to purchase events.
  • Stripe — payment processing for iOS Subscriptions and any other web-based or in-app payments processed through Stripe; Stripe handles your payment instrument data directly under its own privacy policy.
  • Google Play Billing — payment processing for Android Subscriptions; Google handles your payment instrument data directly under its own privacy policy.
  • Apple App Store and Google Play — app distribution; Apple may also act as seller of record where in-app purchases are billed by Apple.
  • Notion — if you connect your Notion workspace, we exchange data with Notion as you direct.
  • Hosting, monitoring, customer support, security, and analytics vendors as needed to operate the Service.

These providers process information under written agreements that limit their use of personal information to the purposes for which we engage them, except for de-identified or aggregated data and except as otherwise required by law.

7.2 Public Sharing by You

If you create a Share Link (for example, on share.knowledgehunter.ai), the Content and AI Output behind the link is publicly accessible to anyone who has the URL, with no Account required. Search engines and other third parties may index, copy, or archive the page. Do not share sensitive personal, confidential, or regulated information through Share Links.

7.3 Legal and Safety Disclosures

We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to: (a) comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; (b) enforce these Terms, including investigation of potential violations; (c) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security, or technical issues; or (d) protect against harm to the rights, property, or safety of Luminous Gateway, LLC, our users, or the public.

7.4 Business Transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of the transaction, subject to standard confidentiality protections. We will notify you of any change of controller as required by law.

7.5 With Your Direction or Consent

We share information with other parties at your direction (for example, when you authorize an integration) or with your consent.

7.6 No Sale of Personal Information

We do not sell personal information for money. We do not engage in cross-context behavioral advertising. Some jurisdictions define “sale” or “share” broadly; if and to the extent any of our disclosures fall within those broad definitions, we will provide the disclosures and opt-out mechanisms required by applicable law.

8. Public Content and Share Links — Important Warning

Anything you make publicly available through Knowledge Hunter — including any URL on share.knowledgehunter.ai — is accessible to anyone who has the link. We do not authenticate or limit who can view a Share Link. Once a link is public, third parties may save, copy, repost, or index it. We may not be able to remove copies stored elsewhere. Do not include any personal, sensitive, confidential, or regulated information in anything you intend to share.

9. Data Retention

We retain your Account, your Content, AI Output, and associated metadata until you delete them or delete your Account. You can delete your Account at any time using the in-app account deletion feature, which removes your Account and your associated stored Content from our active systems. Some categories of information may be retained for limited additional periods where necessary to:

  • Comply with legal, tax, accounting, or regulatory obligations;
  • Resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and prevent fraud or abuse;
  • Maintain the security and integrity of the Service, including in backup and disaster-recovery systems for a limited rotation period;
  • Retain de-identified or aggregated information, which is no longer associated with you and may be retained indefinitely.

Third-party providers may retain logs or data they process on our behalf for their own technical, security, or compliance purposes, subject to their own retention policies.

10. Security

We use a combination of administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS), encryption at rest where supported by Google Cloud / Firebase, identity and access controls, secure authentication, principle-of-least-privilege access for our team, audit logging, and ongoing monitoring. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of any data. You are responsible for using a strong, unique password and for keeping your device and credentials safe.

11. Children’s Privacy

Knowledge Hunter is intended only for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a person under 18, we will delete that information and terminate the Account. If you believe a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, please contact support@knowledgehunter.ai.

12. International Data Transfers

We are headquartered in the United States and use cloud infrastructure (including Google Cloud / Firebase) and AI providers with operations in the United States and other countries. When you use the Service, your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States and other jurisdictions whose data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.

Where required by applicable law (such as the EU/UK GDPR), we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, equivalent mechanisms, your explicit consent, or the contractual necessity of providing the Service. By using the Service, where permitted by law, you acknowledge these transfers.

13. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights with respect to your personal information, including:

  • The right to access or know what personal information we hold about you;
  • The right to correct or update inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • The right to delete your personal information (you can also use the in-app account deletion feature);
  • The right to receive a copy of certain information in a portable format;
  • The right to object to or restrict certain processing, including processing based on legitimate interests;
  • The right to withdraw consent where we rely on consent;
  • The right to opt out of automated decision-making with legal or similarly significant effects (we do not use the Service to make such decisions about you);
  • The right to opt out of any “sale” or “share” of personal information as defined under applicable law (we do not sell personal information for money);
  • The right not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights;
  • The right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Some rights only apply in certain jurisdictions and may be subject to legal exceptions. We will respond to verifiable requests as required by applicable law.

14. How to Exercise Your Rights

To exercise any of the rights described above, email us at support@knowledgehunter.ai from the email address associated with your Account, and tell us which right you would like to exercise. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests, for example by asking you to confirm information about your Account. If you would like an authorized agent to act on your behalf, we may ask the agent to provide written authorization and may also contact you to verify the request.

You may also delete your Account and associated Content directly from within the app using the in-app account deletion feature.

15. Account Deletion

You can delete your Account at any time from within the app. Account deletion will: (a) remove your Account credentials from Firebase Authentication; (b) delete your user profile and the chat, source, and message data stored under your Account in Cloud Firestore; and (c) cancel ongoing AI processing for your Account. Some residual data may persist for a limited time in encrypted backups, anti-abuse logs, or where retention is required by law, as described in Section 9. Deleting your Account does not by itself cancel an active Subscription. To stop billing, cancel through Google Play (for Android Subscriptions) or contact us at support@knowledgehunter.ai to cancel a Stripe-billed iOS Subscription before deleting your Account; Subscriptions billed by Apple must be canceled in your Apple ID settings.

16. Cookies, SDKs, and Similar Technologies

The Service uses SDKs and similar technologies to authenticate users, persist sessions, deliver core functionality, and measure performance, including SDKs from Firebase, RevenueCat, and Superwall. The websites at knowledgehunter.ai and share.knowledgehunter.ai may use a small number of strictly necessary cookies and, where applicable, performance cookies. Where required by law, we will request your consent before setting non-essential cookies and provide controls to manage them.

17. Communications and Notifications

We may send you transactional emails (e.g., email verification, security notices, billing notifications) and, where you opt in, push notifications or product updates. You can unsubscribe from non-transactional emails using the link in the email or by contacting support@knowledgehunter.ai. You can manage push notifications in your device settings.

18. Region-Specific Disclosures

18.1 California (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the categories of personal information described in Section 2 correspond to categories under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the CPRA. We collect this information for the business and commercial purposes described in Section 4. We disclose information to the categories of recipients described in Section 7. We do not sell personal information for money and do not knowingly engage in cross-context behavioral advertising. California residents may exercise the rights described in Section 13 by contacting support@knowledgehunter.ai.

18.2 EEA, UK, and Switzerland

If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, Luminous Gateway, LLC is the controller of your personal information for the purposes described in this Policy. We rely on the legal bases described in Section 5 and use the transfer mechanisms described in Section 12. You may contact us at support@knowledgehunter.ai to exercise your rights or to ask about our data practices, and you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

18.3 Other Jurisdictions

If you are in another jurisdiction with a comprehensive privacy law (such as Brazil’s LGPD, Canada’s PIPEDA/Quebec Law 25, Australia’s Privacy Act, Japan’s APPI, South Korea’s PIPA, or India’s DPDP Act), the rights and obligations described in this Policy are intended to be implemented in a manner consistent with applicable law.

19. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version in the Service and update the “Last Updated” date at the top. For material changes, where required by law, we will provide additional notice (for example, in-app notice or email). Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
